How to Locate AI Chat Copilot Log Files

Enabling debug mode and finding the astah-copilot.log file for error reporting.

If you encounter an issue while using the AI Chat Copilot, the Astah support team may request a specific log file called astah-copilot.log to investigate the bug. To ensure this file contains the necessary diagnostic data, you must first enable Debug Mode.

1. Enable Debug Mode

Before collecting the log, follow these steps to capture the technical details of the error:

  1. Open the Settings menu within the AI Chat Copilot view.

  2. Navigate to the General tab.

  3. Check the [Debug Mode] box and click [OK].

  4. Reproduce the issue: Run your prompt or action again. This ensures the relevant error data is written to the log.

2. Log File Location

After reproducing the error, the astah-copilot.log file can be found in the directory corresponding to your Astah edition.

Because the .astah folder starts with a dot, it is hidden by default on most systems.
