How to Generate PDF Files from Astah Diagrams

Step-by-step instructions for exporting single or multiple diagrams to PDF using system print drivers.

While Astah does not feature a dedicated "Export to PDF" button within the main file menu, you can easily generate high-quality PDF files using your operating system's native print-to-PDF functionality.

Option 1: Using the Print Menu (Recommended)

This method allows you to "print" your diagrams directly into a PDF document.

For Windows Users

  1. Open the diagram you wish to export.

  2. Go to [File] > [Print] (or press Ctrl + P).

  3. In the Printer Name dropdown field, select "Microsoft Print to PDF".

  4. Click OK and choose a destination folder to save your file.

For macOS Users

  1. Open the diagram you wish to export.

  2. Go to [File] > [Print] (or press Command + P).

  3. In the print dialog window, click the PDF dropdown menu in the lower-left corner.

  4. Select "Save as PDF", name your file, and click Save.
