# Setting up AI Services in Chat Copilot
## Integrating LLM Providers (OpenAI, Claude, and others) with Astah
To connect your preferred AI services to Astah Chat Copilot, you must provide a valid API key from your chosen service provider (e.g., OpenAI or Anthropic).
### **Setup Instructions**
#### **Step 1: Obtain your API Key**
Before configuring Astah, you must generate an API key from your provider's dashboard:
- **OpenAI:** Found in the [OpenAI Platform](https://platform.openai.com/api-keys).
- **Claude (Anthropic):** Found in the [Anthropic Console](https://console.anthropic.com/).
#### **Step 2: Configure Astah AI Chat Copilot**
1. Open the **Chat Copilot** view in Astah.
2. Click the **Settings** to [open the configuration menu](https://astah.net/support/ai-chat-copilot/#ai-settings).
3. **AI Service:** Select your provider from the dropdown menu (OpenAI, Claude, etc.).
4. **API Key:** Paste your secret key into the field.
5. **Model:** Select the specific model version you wish to use.
The same AI Service and API key settings are also required to use [Astah MCP Server](https://astah.net/support/astah-mcp-servers/), which lets AI clients such as Claude Code read and edit your Astah models.
